Vandergrift is a designated Main Street Community

The VIP received confirmation from DCED that Vandergrift is now a designated Main Street community.

$50,000 from DCED in Year 2 funding will enable the VIP to continue their Main Street revitalization efforts with PHLF as their managing partner, and Shaun Yurcaba as the on-site coordinator.

$30,000 from DCED in Year 2 funding will also allow the VIP to facilitate the Facade Grant Program which makes grants available up to $5,000 per project. Business or property owners located in the Main Street district can apply for these facade grant funds.

$15,000 from local contributions will further enable the revitalization efforts of all four Committees: Organization, Promotion, Economic Restructuring, and Design.

VIP wins Townie Award

At the 2007 PA Downtown Center Conference in Bethlehem, the VIP won a Townie Award for their successful retail promotion and event: Vandergrift Pet Photo Contest and Calendar. This retail promotion brought in over 4000 people into the central business district to place their votes for their favorite pet photo. The top 12 pet photos were incorporated into the 2007 Calendar which has been enjoyed by many. This award is very competitive as communities from across the state apply.
